Aber Arts Centre looking for new director

June 9, 2017 by

Aberystwyth University is seeking to appoint an inspirational Director of Aberystwyth Arts Centre. The University says the ideal candidate will have the vision and drive to lead the Arts Centre, building on its success and reputation as one of the UK’s leading venues for the Arts.

The Director will lead the artistic direction and future development of the Arts Centre. With the Arts Centre’s 50thanniversary approaching in 2022, the future is exciting and we are keen to hear from individuals with the aspiration, enthusiasm, experience and ability to lead the Arts Centre beyond that landmark. The role offers the opportunity to further enhance the reputation and importance of the arts centre for the people of Wales, and for the development of the arts in Wales.

Aberystwyth Arts Centre is the flagship venue for the Arts in Mid Wales and one of the most exciting creative hubs in the UK.

The centre’s work extends across all art forms with an extensive and eclectic mix of performances, exhibitions, film screenings, festivals, artist residencies, curated work/in-house productions (both professional and community) and the largest and most vibrant Creative Learning programme in Wales.  With a loyal and supportive audience and an experienced and committed staff team, we provide an environment that is open to developing new projects and exploring new partnerships, with a core belief that the arts matter.

We have a strong commitment to supporting and encouraging work from and by Welsh companies and artists, working in both Welsh and English, set within an international context. We celebrate being located within a bilingual community and linked to an international university. Aberystwyth is a major tourist destination with incredible views across Cardigan Bay. We work with our local communities, University staff and students, and visitors to the region providing a warm welcome to performers, artists, participants and visitors.
