Wales Millennium Centre has a line-up of drama, music and craft activities will provide entertainment for visitors of all ages this Easter.
It includes Relaxed Performances which offer a more relaxed environment specifically adapted for families with children with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, individuals with sensory and communication disorders and those with learning disabilities.
Almost Always Muddy (1-8 April) is an exhilarating, interactive show for children aged 7+. Taking place outdoors in The Story Yard *, families are invited to let their imagination run wild, creating story props from a treasure trove of materials which the Story Yard keepers then magically weave into their unique, improvised tales. Each performance is completely unique, thanks to the amazing contributions of the young visitors taking part.
Older children will love Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella (3-7 April) a thrilling love story with energetic choreography and dazzling sets and costumes that has sold out theatres across the country.
Also coming to the Donald Gordon Theatre following a record-breaking UK and Ireland Tour, is the hilarious and spectacular production of family favourite Shrek (10-22 April). This all-singing, all-dancing, must-see musical comedy stars Welsh actor Steffan Harri in the lead role.
The Girl with Incredibly Long Hair (10-15 April) promises to be a delightful and unforgettable experience for children aged 4+. A We Made This production in partnership with Blackwood Miners’ Institute and Wales Millennium Centre, the family show reimagines the story of Rapunzel for our times, taking the audience on an imaginative journey through the forest.
Back by popular demand, Wales Millennium Centre (in partnership with Coreo Cymru, Chapter and National Dance Company Wales) presents the Family Dance Festival, which takes place in front of the Centre for daily performances 11-14 April. A jam-packed hour of pop-up dance from some of Wales’ most animated, mesmerising and lively companies, and a chance to dance for all. This event is free and suitable for all ages.

In addition to our imaginative line up, there will be additional craft workshops taking place within the Centre for messy creative play and the regular fun continues with our weekly Family Saturdays and monthly Toddler Time. More information can be found at www.wmc.org.uk/families/
The Centre also offers a full menu of child friendly meals and snacks and drinks, including seasonal treats for children, in its cafes and restaurant. The Centre is a family-friendly venue with breastfeeding mothers welcome, bottle warming facilities available, changing facilities for babies, and an accessible changing facility for older children and adults with additional needs.
