The Flying Bedroom flies again

March 18, 2018 by

A North Wales based dance theatre company will be returning for another tour of their award-nominated production The Flying Bedroom.  Little Light joined forces with award-winning author Heather Dyer to bring her classic adventure tale ‘The Flying Bedroom’ to life on stage through dance with innovative digital projection.

The story takes the audience on an adventure with Elinor and her magical flying bedroom as they discover new friends, battle pirates and meet a hapless astronaut during their adventures in far off lands, under the sea and into outer space. This creative and inspiring journey, where Elinor discovers her own self-confidence and creativity, will be displayed through dance, acting in English and Welsh, stunning costumes and projections, providing an immersive sensory experience for the whole family.

In this wonderful fantasy world Elinor finds ways to overcome her worries which she experiences before she fell to sleep, and she discovers her own self confidence and creativity so that when she awakes she is ready to face her day.

Lisa Spaull, from Little Light said: “We’re looking forward to touring The Flying Bedroom again across Wales for as many people as possible to see this fantastic show.  It’s exciting, fun and really creative, and this show will have more interactive 3D locations, surround sound. It’s not just for children but the grown-ups too.”

Heather Dyer, author of the original book said: “ I’m so excited that The Flying Bedroom is taking to the road again this year, and I can’t wait to see the latest special effects and dramatic moments in this ‘new and improved’ performance. It’s also lovely that one of the venues is in Aberdovey itself, the seaside town in which the stories are set. Elinor’s bedroom is coming home!

Little Light have had a long standing relationship with Venue Cymru and are pleased to be co-producing this special production with them this year.

The Flying Bedroom will be performed at Venue Cymru on March 27th before heading on tour across Wales.

This bilingual show is ideal for children of 4+ and the running time is approximately 45 minutes. Optional dance and digital workshops will be taking place after certain performances, but audiences will need to book as  numbers will be limited.
