Wales Theatre Awards 2017 venue announced

They have become the highlight of the theatre calendar and another set of prestigious trophies are waiting for the names of the winners of the 2017 Wales Theatre Awards.

There are awards in a wide range of categories in theatre, opera and dance created and performed in Wales. These include awards for actors, singers, dancers, choreographers, designers, writers, musicians as nominated by arts critics from throughout Wales.

The awards cover performances and writing in both the English and Welsh languages with special awards for theatre for children and young people.

The eligibility period for the next Awards will be from December 1, 2015 to December 31, 2016.

In hand with the WTAs is the Wales Critics Fund which gives support to young writers, new writers and freelance writers to ensure existing and developing critics are able to travel around Wales and see performances. The WCF also encourages critics to try different types of performance as well as specialises in a particular genre. All of the critics are able to nominate for the Wales theatre Awards.

The Wales Critics Fund and Wales Theatre Awards are only possible through the generous support from individuals and organisations. The Awards and Fund are organised by a not for profit company Arts Awards Ltd.

The Awards evening has been n Cardiff rot he last four years and Arts Awards is delighted to announce that they are not to take to the road and in 2017 will be held at the Taliesin Arts Centre in Swansea. Each year the Awards will be held in a different venue across the nation.

The Awards evening will be on Saturday, February 25.
