Wales Theatre Awards 2018 Nominations Open

November 24, 2017 by

Nominations are now open for the Wales Theatre Awards 2018.

The Awards recognise both excellence in the performing arts and the vital role of critics to the cultural and social life of Wales.

The Awards Show will be held in January 2018.

The Wales Theatre Awards cover live performance in opera, dance and theatre created and performed in Wales during 2017. The nominations are made by critics working in Welsh and in English throughout Wales and in print and online. To find out about the Awards and previous winners please visit www.walestheatreawards.com

This year there is a new category Wales and the World to give recognition to an artist from Wales whose work has been OUTSIDE of Wales. This does not include an artist in a show from Wales that has been performed outside Wales. It could be an opera singer with a company outside of Wales or similarly an actor on a stage beyond Wales’ borders.   If you are a critic either IN or  OUTSIDE of Wales with a suggestion please email walestheatreawards@gmail.com saying who the person is and for what performance, show etc. and where that you are nominating them.

Many of the critics who nominate are supported by Wales Critics Fund, a unique membership initiative to give financial support to reviewers and mentor the next generation of young reviewers. To join or find out more please email walescriticsfund@gmail.com

Critics based in Wales who would like to nominate and receive the official nominations form (in Welsh or in English) should email: walestheatreawards@gmail.com

There are also sponsorship opportunities for organisations in Wales to become involved in the Awards and also the Wales Critics Fund.

For information of sponsorship opportunities please email:  walestheatreawards@gmail.com
