Welsh Camerata to open launch of open-air market

Welsh Camerata choir has been invited to open the launch of an exciting new open-air market in Charles Street, Cardiff from 10.00 on Saturday 28 August 2021.

The choir normally performs three programmes each year in Cardiff and South Wales but their last appearance on stage was in December 2019.

Throughout lockdown, the choir has continued rehearsing on Zoom. More recently, they have been meeting in person for informal socially-distanced singing in a park in Pontcanna.

“During one of our outdoor singing sessions, we were thrilled to be approached by the organiser of the new Charles Street market to sing at the launch of the new market,” said a spokesperson for the choir. “Having not given a concert for so long, it’s good to know that we still know how to entertain people! Whilst meeting on Zoom has kept morale up, it isn’t a substitute for making live music together.”

The choir hopes to resume its normal concert-giving in December and is very happy to be able to entertain visitors to the Charles Street market on 28 August.

The Cardiff-based choir specialises in early music from the Baroque, Renaissance and Middle Ages but also performs more recently-written pieces.
