I was asked to review the show ‘Wot No Fish!’ On arriving in the theatre Danny Braverman the actor came and said hello to me and my Dad. I was the only child in the audience.

He then gave us fish with sauce and asked me to hand it out. He started telling us a story about his family. They are Jewish. His favourite great great Aunt and Uncle are Abs and Cecily. All the time he was holding a box under his arm. What was in it? Eventually all was revealed.

In the box were pay slips on which Abs drew pictures for Cecily every week throughout his working life. Every picture was a drawing of something that had happened in that week. So the show was built around these pictures that Danny, wearing white gloves, drew out of the box and placed under a projector. In this show we learn about the Jewish life style during war.

We learn about Larry who was disabled and Jeff who was gay and as the show went on we found out more and more about Abs and Cecily. By the end of the show we really understood more about Danny. It was an interesting show and Danny is very enjoyable to watch and listen to. He brought us into his world. Quite often he spoke to me directly.

Of course one thing that I learnt and was talked about through the whole show was that they really, really liked fish!!!!

I enjoyed the show but on the night it felt like it was more for adults. I would like to see a shorter version for kids like me.
