Gulliver travels to Llanelli

September 7, 2016 by

Award-winning Familia de la Noche returns to the Ffwrnes, Llanelli with a magical voyage of exploration and adventure. Hurtling from the tiny towers of ostentatious Lilliput to the looming giants of Brobdingnag this whirlwind tale takes you to corners of the earth you never knew existed. Meet talking horses, mad scientists, necromancers and decrepit immortals with the secret to eternal life.

A grieving Elizabeth Gulliver is faced with clearing out her estranged father’s possessions. Finding herself in an unfamiliar room she is struck by reminders of her jewel-bright childhood, the remarkable stories and extraordinary adventures. She is also struck by the time it all changed.

Using Familia de la Noche’s style of puppetry, mask and storytelling Gulliver’s Travels follows a man hell-bent on finding adventure but losing himself along the way.

Familia de la Noche describes itself as a Pandoras box of actors, clowns, puppeteers and musicians. Making shows that are funny, affecting, devastating, charming and raucously entertaining. Created by award-winning performers Conrad Sharp, Becca Cox and Sean Garratt. Directed by Conrad Sharp and Becca Cox. Design by Lily Knight.

Gulliver’s Travels is Familia de la Noche’s third production following two 5* rated shows –  The Greatest Liar in all the World and The Very Grey Matter of Edward Blank. In 2015 they we awarded the Three Weeks Editors’ Award for “producing consistently outstanding work”. They were awarded the Wales Millennium Centre Blysh Commission in 2014 and shortlisted for the Les Enfants Terribles Award 2013.  They are also part of the supported artists programme at Greenwich Theatre.
